Bridal Expo 2017

Artisan Market

Making hats began as a fun sideline to my Art and Design business but I have had so many orders this year that I thought maybe its time I start building this portion of my portfolio a bit more seriously. I am proud to announce that I will have my first market booth in the Artisan Market at Bridal Expo YYC 2017 and to be in such good company with fellow wedding artisans!

Packwood Grand 2017

Always a blast at the Packwood Bash! Ran into a few of my hats while we were there and still trying to track down photos of a few more. Can’t wait until all the photos are released!

CTV Packwood Grand

A little fashion plate dished up prior to Packwood Grand.

Well at least I’m better at making hats than I am at speaking on camera.  Thank you for the feature Camilla and Mirissa!

The Devil is in the Details

Creating your own Fascinator

I had the pleasure of doing a blog interview with Anastaiia for Packwood Grand. As I am sure you know I love DIY so I shared a few tips for the ladies that want to add their own signature spin on their look for the races.

Calgary Stampede

So excited to be part of the Calgary Stampede 2017: Western Showcase, Stir’ Up and Artist In-Site.

A sincere thank you to all the folks who offer so much encouragement and support every other day of the year. A special dedication to Ayesha and Derrick Clough who have helped make my dreams come true and who go above and beyond to support the Arts and Artists.

In case you missed it, my work in the show can still be seen HERE

Hope to see y’all next year!

Spotlight Exhibit

Exhibition for Continuing Education Students

What a fun opening! Thank you so much Alberta College of Art and Design for hosting a celebration of work from Continuing Education.

A sincere thank you to Katherine Ylitalo, Spotlight Exhibition Juror, for your time and thoughtful words. “What an exuberant concoction! All the under-the-sea elements appear to be wonderfully made and assembled into a mer-milliner’s dream.”

Mayor’s Night of the Arts

Nominee for the McKee Homes - Professional Artist Award

I feel so honoured to have been nominated this year for the 2017 McKee Homes – Professional Artist Award. It is lovely to part of such a dedicated community of artists in Airdrie!

” This category is designed to recognize an individual in the arts community respected by their contemporaries for advancing and enhancing the arts through their exceptional talent and body of work. This individual has made substantial contributions to our community in the area of the arts; literary, music, dance, new media, theatre or visual arts; over an extended period of time.”

More information about the event and tickets can be found on their website:

Packwood Grand 2016

Derby Hats for Century Downs

I was thrilled to have so many hat and fascinator commissions for the 2016 Packwood Grand event. The colour and drama of the wearable Art pieces are a great fit for the derbies; each hat and fascinator is as unique as the person wearing them. I started making these just for fun, and every year it just gets to be more so!

Creative Airdrie 2015

An initiative by Creative Airdrie in partnership with Fortis Alberta to add a little extra charm and curb appeal to switching cubicles throughout the city. My artwork was one of several chosen and featured a composition depicting some of the work that FortisAlberta does to help protect Birds of Prey.

Cover + Feature 2015

Under the direction of Sherry Shaw-Froggatt, I created the first ever, illustrated cover for Airdrie Life. This particular piece had a ‘Where’s Waldo’ concept in order to depict as many local arts icons in one composition. It was an excellent opportunity to meet a host of talented people in our community.

The original drawing is now in the private collection of Sherry Shaw-Froggatt.
