FLOTSAM + JETSAM

The name denotes a collection of odds and ends, and is visually reminiscent of my Canadian West-Coast childhood. Flotsam is accidental debris from a shipwreck while Jetsam is debris deliberately thrown overboard to lighten the load. What is discarded or lost is often just as interesting as what is kept. Items with no seemingly worldly value can hold such poignant memories. I am interest in the things we collect and choose to discard.

I love working with experimental mediums and ArtResin has the ability to bring all my components together. A reoccurring theme in my work is light and shadow and the incredible depth I can achieve with ArtResin helps to refract light within my pieces. As a result, the surrounding environment affects how each work is seen, and speaking of environment - it is refreshing to find a certified non-toxic resin in the market.
